Blogs of the week
1. SEO for Single Page Oracle (SPA) JET Application
Andrejus Baranovskij says, “This is a quick tip post related to Oracle JET.”
He links to the following article
2. Oracle patches – a patchfiles anatomy
This one begins with, “In my previous post I explained some basics about IDs of platforms, products and similar and where these patches can be obtained. Today my focus is on the content of some patchfiles.”
3. Native Oracle DB JSON functionality as alternative for using cursor() in AOP (and APEX_JSON)
Dimitri Gielis begins his blog with, “When using external (WEB/REST) services, you often communicate in JSON. So it’s important to be able to generate JSON in the format that is expected by the external service. In the case of APEX Office Print (AOP), we made it super simple to communicate with the AOP server from the database through our PL/SQL API. You just have to enter a SQL statement and the AOP PL/SQL API, which uses APEX_JSON behind the scenes, generates the necessary JSON that the AOP Server understands.”
4. FCCS – Metadata out of sync
Erik Erikson helpfully says, “It’s really rare that this happens, but it happened to me so I wanted to share it with everyone in case someone else runs into it and you’ll know what’s going on.”
Erman Arslan writes, “Migrations are popular these days, just like they always were. Cloud migrations , Oracle migrations, Sql Server migration, Data Center migrations, Cloud at Customer migration etc.. you name it 🙂 Today, I want to share a migration approach that can be taken in order to migrate data from Sql Server to Oracle.”
6. Lambda Function to Resize EBS Volumes of EMR Nodes
Gokhan Atil begins with, “I have to start by saying that you should not use EMR as a persistent Hadoop cluster. The power of EMR lies in its elasticity. You should launch an EMR cluster, process the data, write the data to S3 buckets, and terminate the cluster. However, we see lot of AWS customers use the EMR as a persistent cluster. So I was not surprised when a customer told that they need to resize EBS volume automatically on new core nodes of their EMR cluster.”
7. Decomposing the last monolith – The UI-Monolith with web components
Johan Louwers writes in his blog, “Enterprises tend to move away from the monolith based architectures and decompose existing solutions in smaller services. The use of functions and microservices is a common implementation model at this moment. However, a common observation is that enterprises tend to build (maintain) one last monolith even when adopting a modern architecture. In many of the microservice based applications the UI tends to be the last monolith.”
8. EPM Cloud – Integration Agent Part 5 – Events and custom scripting
John Goodwin starts his blog with, “If you are looking to extend the default functionality of the integration agent, then events and scripting are there to provide just this. It could be that you want to override the SQL or bind variables that have been defined in Data Integration. You may want to extract data from a database that is not currently available with standard functionality such as SAP Hana. You may want to pull data from a cloud provider or other data sources. It could be that you wish to initiate other processes or send email notifications. This can all be achieved with the custom scripting option.”
9. OEM 13c Database Plugin 13.3.2 Caveat
Alfredo Krieg says, “I have done some testing on the OEM 13c DB Plugin 13.3.2 (PG) for the last several months. I highlighted some of the changes in this new version in a previous post.
During the last Dallas Oracle User Group (DOUG) conference I got couple of questions though, such as:
OEM 13c Top Activity page has been deprecated “
Read his post for answers to this question and others.
10. Deploying Oracle Analytics Cloud Remote Data Gateway in a Public Subnet
Dayne Carley says, “The latest releases of Oracle Analytics Cloud (OAC) now include the new Remote Data Gateway (RDG) for accessing databases that are not otherwise accessible by OAC. This post is a step-by-step guide to installing and configuring RDG in a public subnet on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). It includes scenarios using the Internet and VPN / FastConnect.”
