This blog by Federico Venturin links to his article ‘Handling Fine-Grained Data Visualization Permissions in Oracle Analytics Cloud.’
It goes through:
- Creating a User-Defined Application Role
- Granting and Revoking Permissions for Application Roles
In his conclusion, he writes, “Until now, the all-or-nothing approach for handling permissions in Data Visualization posed a significant hurdle to its widespread adoption since administrators understandably preferred to fully disable it, rather than granting their users excessive power. The ability to handle individual permissions described in this article allows you to overcome the aforementioned barrier, enabling you to tune your Data Visualization security at finer grain than previously possible. I also had confirmation that the list of individual permissions will be expanded further, and I’m really looking forward to have this feature included in the next release of Oracle Analytics Server as well.”

6. How to identify which indexes can be safely dropped in Oracle
Maria Colgan writes, “The longer an application has been successfully run, the more likely you are to have indexes that are no longer used or beneficial. Removing these indexes not only saves space but can also improve the performance of any DML operations.
But knowing which indexes can be safely dropped can be tricky.
In Oracle Database 12c, things got a little easier with the introduction of a new view called DBA_INDEX_USAGE.”

Mike Dietrich says, “Originally, the Premier Support for Oracle Database 21c was supposed to end at the end of April 2024. But since Oracle Database 23c is not available yet, and even when it will be available before this date, the time to move to 23c would be very short.
