Just a quick note to cover the install of a new Windows server on my blade.
The first part of the process is to get the software. I use Microsoft Partner Centre, which seams to change the way it works, every YEAR!
Annoying, but after an hour of setting things up, i am now on the new program, and signed up for the Action Pack replacement, called “Partner Success Core Benefits” (i wonder how long that name will last!)
From the benefits section I can now download the ISO for the Windows Server software
Select Windows Server
I can download the ISO, and get my keys
The Next stage is to create the Virtual Machine, using Virtualbox
Simply Reference the ISO in the create machine steps. Make sure you Skip Unattended Installation
And important for me, was to install the desktop with the server,
A few minutes later you get a Server to play with…
Once installed and running, Activate using the keys from MS Partner Centre (Center!)
The whole process (without the initial one off faff) takes about 20 mins!
However, you will also need to run Windows Updates. That adds an hour
