#Kscope20 and #Kscope21 locations announced this week – Boston and Nashville respectively!

Registration is open now for #kscope20

It’s nearly a year away – so you have time to read these blogs and watch some videos in the meantime!

Blogs of the week

1. A couple of Kscope blogs by Cameron Lackpour can be found here and here

2. There’s a new Drill to Detail podcast out – Drill to Detail Ep.69 ‘Looker, Tableau and Consolidation in the BI Industry’ featuring Special Guests Tristan Handy and Stewart Bryson

3. EZConnect Oracle Goldengate to Oracle Database – On Premise or Cloud (DBAAS)

Bobby Curtis begins by saying, “With the release of Oracle GoldenGate 19c, it has been made easier to connect Oracle GoldenGate to the Oracle Database – source or target. Gone are the days that you need to update your local tnsnames.ora file to point to the desired database. The only thing you have to do now, is ensure that your database is reachable via an easy connect (ezconnect) string.”

4. Offline Updating WebLogic Images using Oracle WebLogic Image Tool

Dirk Nachbar writes, “This next article about the Oracle WebLogic Image Tool https://github.com/oracle/weblogic-image-tool, in which I will show you how to update an existing Oracle WebLogic Server Image in an offline environment (no access to the internet).

5. Glitches

Jonathan Lewis answers a question  just in from Oracle-L that demonstrates the pain of assuming things work consistently when sometimes Oracle development hasn’t quite finished a bug fix or enhancement.

6. REST Services now available for Oracle Autonomous Database

Jeff Smith shares this video about ORDS:

7. Embedding Transformation Data Pipeline into ML Model using Oracle Data Mining

Brendan Tierney says, “I’ve written several blog posts about how to use the DBMS_DATA_MINING.TRANSFORM function to create various data transformations and how to apply these to your data. All of these steps can be simple enough to following and re-run in a lab environment. But the real value with data science and machine learning comes when you deploy the models into production and have the ML models scoring data as it is being produced, and your applications acting upon these predictions immediately, and not some hours or days later when the data finally arrives in the lab environment.”

This week on Twitter

Sten Vesterli shared an edition of the Oracle Watch newsletter

Caleb Curry asks, “Developers can now build applications on Oracle Autonomous Database using APEX! This may be the best way to build fully managed applications using low-code. What do you think?”

Connor McDonald shares this one from the vault.
